Backup restore on cPanel
On cPanel hosting, restores from the daily server backups are handled by our support team: you open a ticket, and we restore the version you need. Exception: if you have booked the JetBackup option, you restore files, databases and emails yourself in the panel.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- The version you need must be within the retention period. Details in How often is my data backed up?
- For the self-service route: the booked JetBackup option (

Step by step
Section titled “Step by step”- Open a ticket in the customer center.
- Tell us the domain and what should be restored: the entire account, a directory, a database or a mailbox (the more specific the path, the faster it goes).
- Tell us the point in time you need (“the state from the evening before yesterday”).
- Let us know whether we may overwrite the current state or should put the data in a separate directory.
- We will reply in the ticket as soon as the restore is complete.
- Log in to cPanel.
- Open
JetBackup. - Select the matching category: full backups, files, databases or email.
- Select the backup point with the date you need.
- Click
Restore(or first useDownloadto download the data for review). - Follow the progress in the JetBackup queue and check the result afterwards.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”JetBackup is missing from your cPanel
Section titled “JetBackup is missing from your cPanel”The self-service option is not booked for your plan. In that case, restores go through support.
Solution: For the immediate problem, use the ticket (tab above). If you want to restore backups yourself in the future, the support team will explain via ticket how to add the JetBackup option to your plan.
The point in time you need is no longer available
Section titled “The point in time you need is no longer available”The backup is outside the retention period and has already been overwritten.
Solution: Acting fast pays off: the sooner the damage is noticed, the more versions you can choose from. Which retention period applies to your contract and whether it can be extended is clarified via ticket.
The JetBackup restore is stuck in the queue
Section titled “The JetBackup restore is stuck in the queue”Restores run through the queue one after another. Depending on the size, this takes time.
Solution: Wait instead of starting it multiple times (each click adds another job to the queue). If nothing moves after a long time, open a ticket.
