IMAP, POP3 and SMTP settings for your mail client

Last reviewed

To set up your email program, you need the server hostname, ports and encryption settings. The settings are identical for all mailboxes of a domain. You will find an overview here and can copy them directly from your hosting panel.

Both panels include a configuration overview for each mailbox. You can copy the settings from there or download a ready-made profile.

  1. Log in to the Plesk panel.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Mail and select your address.
  3. Click Copy Link to Setup Wizard or open the Manual Setup tab.
  4. The view shows the hostname, ports and encryption, plus separate tabs with auto-config profiles for Thunderbird, Gmail, Outlook and iOS Mail.

Your domain probably does not use the rack::SPEED nameservers. In that case, the mail. record does not exist.

Solution: Enter the server hostname in your mail client instead. You see it in your browser’s address bar when you are logged in to the panel (it ends in rackspeed-cloud.de). It works exactly the same.

mail.<yourdomain> does not have a valid certificate, often because no separate SSL configuration exists for the mail domain.

Solution: The quickest fix is to use the server hostname instead of the domain. The cleaner fix: in Plesk, issue a Let’s Encrypt certificate for the mail domain under Mail Settings.

Login is rejected despite correct server settings

Most common cause: the username is incomplete.

Solution: Always use the full email address as the username (info@example.com), not just the part before the @.

If the client does not connect despite correct settings: open a ticket in the customer center. Include a screenshot of the error message and the hostname you used. This speeds up the diagnosis.
