Gmail app (Android): set up email

Last reviewed

The easiest way to set up your rack::SPEED mailbox on Android is via IMAP in the preinstalled Gmail app. All you need is your full email address, the mailbox password and the server mail.<yourdomain>.

  1. Open the Gmail app, tap your profile picture in the top right and then Add another account.
  2. Select Other as the account type.
  3. Enter your full email address and tap Next.
  4. Select Personal (IMAP).
  5. Enter the mailbox password and tap Next.
  6. Incoming server: server mail.<yourdomain>, port 993, security SSL/TLS. Use your full email address as the username.
  7. Outgoing server: server mail.<yourdomain>, port 587, security STARTTLS. Leave Require sign-in enabled. The username is again your full address.
  8. Confirm the account options. Your mailbox now syncs.

Most common cause: the username is not the full address, or the mailbox password is wrong.

Solution: Always use the full address as the username (info@example.com). If the password doesn’t work, reset it in the panel.

mail.<yourdomain> has no certificate of its own, often because there is no SSL configuration for the mail domain.

Solution: Enter the server hostname (…rackspeed-cloud.de) as the server instead. It works exactly the same and has a valid certificate.

Then the problem is with the outgoing server.

Solution: Check port 587 with STARTTLS and make sure Require sign-in is enabled and the username is the full address.

If setup fails even though your details are correct: open a ticket in the customer center. Include the email address and whether receiving or sending is affected.
